Ein buntes Wochenende liegt hinter mir! Eine tolle Gruppe von 9 kreativen Frauen und ich haben sich 2 ganze Tage lang mit dem experimentellen Monotypie-Druck mit Gelliplates, Schablonen, Acrylfarben und Co. beschäftigt. Für die meisten war es „Neuland“ und alle haben beherzt zu den Farbrollen gegriffen und gedruckt, was das Zeug hielt.
Vielen Dank an Agnete, Merethe, Vivi, Lykke, Tina, Anne, Lene, Hanne und Marie für ein hyggeliges Wochenende, viel Spaß und Inspiration, denn wie bei allen meinen Workshops lerne ich ebenfalls jedesmal etwas Neues. Das ist schön.
A colorful weekend is behind me! A great group of 9 creative women and I spent 2 whole days experimenting with monotype printing using gelliplates, stencils, acrylic paints and so on. For most of them it was „new territory“ and everyone boldly grabbed the paint rollers and printed as much as they could.
Many thanks to Agnete, Merethe, Vivi, Lykke, Tina, Anne, Lene, Hanne and Marie for a hygge weekend, a lot of fun and inspiration, because as with all my workshops, I also learn something new every time. That’s so nice.

The worktables filled up with printed paper in no time at all – this is normal with gelli printing.
Beim Druck mit den weichen Platten gibt es unzählige Gestaltungsmöglichkeiten, Tricks und Kniffe – wenn man einmal „Gelliprinting“ googelt, finden sich Videos und Anleitungen zu Hauf.
Und trotzdem kann nichts die eigenen Erfahrungen ersetzen. Gerade die Anfänger*innen müssen sich ihren Erfahrungsschatz erst einmal erarbeiten. Da der Druckprozess an sich sehr schnell vonstatten geht, sind schon nach wenigen Stunden ansehnliche Stapel von Papieren entstanden.
Wer wie ich gerne mit Collagen arbeitet, kann sich entspannen- alle diese Papiere können zu einem späteren Zeitpunkt in einer neuen Komposition Verwendung finden. Auch für Briefumschläge, Geschenkanhänger und Buchbindeprojekte sind die bedruckten Papiere super.
Mit der Zeit und Erfahrung lässt sich der Prozess dann immer besser steuern und die Gestaltungen werden gezielter.
Mit dabei waren übrigens auch 2 Textilkünstlerinnen, die auf Stoff experimentiert haben. Ich bin schon sehr gespannt, wie die Unikatstoffe vernäht aussehen werden!
When printing with the soft plates, there are countless design options, tricks and tricks – if you google „gelliprinting“ you will find videos and instructions in abundance.
And yet nothing can replace your own experience. Beginners, in particular, have to develop their wealth of experience first. Since the printing process itself is very fast, considerable stacks of paper are created after just a few hours.
If you like working with collages like I do, you can relax – all these papers can be used in a new composition at a later date. The printed papers are also great for envelopes, gift tags and bookbinding projects.
With time and experience, the process can then be controlled better and better and the designs become more targeted.
By the way, there were also 2 textile artists who experimented with fabric. I’m really excited to see what the unique fabrics will look like sewn up!
Natürlich wurde auch nach Bildtranfer mit der Gelliplate gefragt. Mein „Angstgegner“ unter den Vorführtechniken. Wer das schon einmal ausprobiert hat, weiß, dass diese Technik nicht hundertprozentig gelingsicher ist. Auf die richtige Kombination aus Papier, Farbsorte, Technik und timing kommt es an. An diesem Wochcenende hatten wir Glück und es sind einige schöne Bildtranfers gelungen!
Of course, they also asked about image transfer with the Gelliplate. Among all the techniques, this one always makes me a little bit nervous whenever I have to show it. Anyone who has tried this before knows that it is is not 100% reliable. It all comes down to the right combination of paper, type of ink, technology and timing. This weekend we were lucky and some nice image transfers have been successfully made!
Bei der abschliessenden Präsentationsrunde haben wir dann noch einmal alle die unterschiedlichen Ergebnisse bestaunt und besprochen. Das kann kein Onlinekurs jemals ersetzen!
Im November gibt es noch einen weiteren Wochenend-Kurs zum Thema Gellidruck bei der FOF vom 12. – 13. November 2022. Das neue Kursprogram wird in einigen Wochen hier bereitstehen.
During the final round of presentations, we all admired and discussed the different results again. No online course can ever replace that!
